Stralsund is a Hanseatic town in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. The Hanseatic League was an alliance of trading guilds that established and maintained a trade monopoly along the coast of Northern Europe, from the Baltic to the North Sea, during the Late Middle Ages and Early modern period (circa thirteenth–seventeenth centuries).

Historic Centres of Stralsund and Wismar is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Both towns were major trading centres of the Hanseatic League in the 14th and 15th centuries.
